Informed Choice.Your body, your choice. Always.

"Lucky explains everything thoroughly, has a wealth of knowledge, and promptly answered all of our questions. Something that has become important to me since working with Lucky that I hadn’t experienced with other health care providers is consent. Lucky makes sure to ask if it’s alright if she proceeds with care and lets you know what she’s doing." ~M.

At Transitions, you are in charge of what happens to your body and your baby.

As you're considering care with us, I want to talk to you about my process of informed consent. Throughout the United States, your right to informed consent in healthcare is guaranteed by law. Like other healthcare professionals, I'll ask you to read and sign paperwork giving me consent to take care of you and baby.
But I take your right to informed choice very seriously, and I strive to ensure that you know what your options are at every point. I believe that we are partners in your care. Throughout your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period, I will share my knowledge and experience with you. You will take that information, and combine it with what you know about your body, your family, and your beliefs to make the best decision you can for yourself and your baby.
At Transitions, I will explain the reason behind every exam, test, screening, and blood draw. I will ask you if you understand, and if it's okay to proceed. I will only move forward if and when you give your consent. And if you need a pause, or need me to stop, all you have to do is say so.
Your right to consent extends beyond decision making, however. I believe that you also have the right to consent (or not!) to touch at every appointment and during your birth. Some clients find it strange that I always ask before I check your vitals, measure your belly, and listen to your baby. I do it because I truly believe that you always have a right to say no. At Transitions, you are in charge of what happens to your body and your baby.
