Transitions Birth Services wants to be a hub for the birth and birthing community in Milwaukee. Our office hosts many events, including childbirth education classes, lactation education classes, training events for midwives and doulas, open house events where families can connect, and more.
Greater Love Lactation Basics, first Saturday of each month
Tori Freund, student midwife and Greater Love full spectrum doula, teaches this affirming and welcoming class on human milk and breast/chest feeding. Learn more here.
Greater Love Childbirth Education (next series starts July 18, 2023)
Tori Freund, student midwife and Greater Love full spectrum doula, teaches their six week class several times throughout the year in the Transitions Birth Services office. This class is appropriate for families regardless of whether you're planning a homebirth, a hospital birth, an induction or a scheduled surgical birth. Learn more here.
Traditional Postpartum Belly Binding - Sunday, July 30, 2023
Instructor Star Twaddle says: Learn the traditional methods of Bengkung and African belly binding from a practitioner of 20 years. This training is limited to a MAX. Of 15 participants due to space. Midwifery Phlebotomy and I.V. Start Class - Saturday, August 12, 2023
Instructor Deanna Moore says: Are you a current midwife or midwifery student who would like to learn Phlebotomy and how to start IV’s? Do you know how, but just need more practice or a refresher? This in-person class is going to include a brief PowerPoint about choosing draw/IV spots, supplies you need, order of draw, problem solving, common issues that can arise, and of course, REAL practice! I will bring all supplies needed. We can also learn about Newborn Screens!
Potluck style - food will be provided but you are welcome to bring something to share!

B.E.S.T. - Birth Emergency Skills Training - Wednesday, August 30, 2023
Midwives and doulas - whether you've been practicing for years or are new to birthwork, B.E.S.T. will give you the critical skills you need to care for your clients in emergency situations. Some of the skills included are resolving shoulder dystocia, managing surprise breech or surprise twins, responding to hemorrhage, and more. This class provides 18 CEUs. Learn more here.
