Transitions Birth Services wants to be a hub for the birth and birthing community in Milwaukee. Our office hosts many events, including childbirth education classes, lactation education classes, training events for midwives and doulas, open house events where families can connect, and more.

International Day of the Midwife Open House

We're so excited to invite you all to our annual open house in celebration of International Day of the Midwife. Every May, birthworkers and public health officials from all of the world pause to acknowledge the work done by midwives, whether hospital or community based. In 2025, the World Health Organization issued a statement about the international importance of midwifery saying, "Expanding and investing in midwifery models of care is one of the most effective strategies to improve parental and newborn health globally..."
Our IDotM open house is one of our favorite opportunities to connect and reconnect with our families, and we hope you'll join us. No matter whether you're a current client, a past client or someone who is just interested in spending time in community with great people, you are welcome. You are also welcome to bring your friends and family members if you'd like.
We'd love to celebrate International Day of the Midwife and Tori's graduation with you! Please stop by for some community, connection and cupcakes. We’ll have stickers and pins and share, some plant starts to give away, as well as hugs or handshakes for all of our guests who'd like them.

The Midwife Is In! Weekly coffee time at The Daily Bird (every Friday)
Our team will be at our favorite local coffee shop, The Daily Bird, on Friday mornings from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. We’ll be available to chat with community members about our work, our practice, homebirth, the birth suite, or any other pregnancy related questions you might have! Please come by and say hi!

Infant Feeding Circle for current and past clients (second Wednesday of each month)
Please join us at the Transitions Birth Services office for our monthly Infant Feeding Circle. Bring your questions, concerns and all of your big feelings, and we'll discuss them all! This group is open to past and current TBS clients, including pregnant clients getting ready for baby.
TBS events and groups are always welcome spaces for nurslings and babes in arms!

TBS Families Craft Nights for current and past clients (third Wednesday of each month)
Calling all TBS crafters! Past and current clients - please come craft with us at the Transitions Birth Services office at our new monthly crafting night. Bring your knitting, crochet, coloring books, paint-by-numbers or any other handcrafts or small projects.

Skills Night for local midwifery students (fourth Wednesday of each month)
Midwifery students from the SE Wisconsin area are welcome to join us at the Transitions Birth Services office for skills night each month. The topics change each month, and there is no registration or enrollment fee. If you'd like to be added to the Facebook group, please contact Lucky through the contact form on this site introducing yourself as a student midwife. Greater Love Childbirth Education
Tori Freund, student midwife and Greater Love full spectrum doula, teaches their six week class several times throughout the year in the Transitions Birth Services office. This class is appropriate for families regardless of whether you're planning a homebirth, a hospital birth, an induction or a scheduled surgical birth. Learn more here.
